How much is too much for a haircut?

I have my hair cut pretty short, then let it grow for about 4 months and cut it again. The place I go to charges 25.00 including tip. I would go more often if I found a place that did a decent job of my hair, it's got a million cowlicks and very hard to give a good cut to.

I finally found someone in 2005! Before I started coloring it, it cost $45 for a wash, cut & style every 4 weeks. With the coloring, I now pay $85 every 4 weeks for color, wash, cut & style.
And worth every penny to get a great haircut! :)

Read about her in the local paper several months after I moved up from NYC. Article said she'd studied sculpture, so I figured she knew about shape.
Saved me driving to NYC every 5 or 6 weeks - gas alot cheaper then, but still.

When I lived in NY I went to some very expensive stylists who had worked for John Freeda, Vidal Sassoon and other famous trendsetters. When I moved down here it took me a long time to find anyone whom I really liked. I finally found a great haircutter who had been a trainer for L'Oreal Professionnel. He's in a very upscale salon now about a mile or so from where I live and I pay $65.00 plus tip for a really great haircut. Once I lost my job about a year and a half ago I could no longer afford or justify the expense of this luxury. Last month I went to Great Clips, paid $6.99 with a coupon, found a pretty good stylist who intuitively knew what would work best with my hair which is very fine and straight, tipped her $5.00 and walked out of there very happy. They didn't offer me a glass of wine or sparkling water or fuss over me as they did in the fancier salon but I would recommend this particular stylist anytime and told her so!
