Welcome from Texas, but a Kansan for 73 years! Get super-homesick sometimes--loved it there!

Welcome to Kansas. Izp is right the Junction City area has grown due to Fort Riley's expansion and that is a great area. I'm out west about four hours from Fort Riley. Let me know if you need any "kansas" advice. Have a safe and easy move - hat is if moving can be easy :) And don't forget the machine and current project goes in last so you can work on it up to the minute before you move and since it went in last it comes out first.

Welcome from Michigan. Born and raised in Kansas, the Sunflower State (that's why the sunflower quilt avatar). It is a great state. Thank your husband for his service. If you are going to Ft. Riley, great part of the state. The deployments are tough, but his service is so appreciated. Our son was a 20 year submariner. Lots of moving.

There is a great quilt shop in Salina called the Quilting Bee! I am in western KS so it is a 2 hour drive for me but well worth it! The Flint Hills are gorgeous. Best wishes and welcome to the Sunflower State!
Thanks! I'll be sure to look at it!

When I moved to Germany my sewing machine was broken... it was my Grandma's (1970's) so they didn't feel it had a 'replacement value' and I was told tough luck. GRRRR!!!! This time it's my carry-on!

An advantage to being at Ft. Riley is that you are just next door to Manhattan, a wonderful university town. Plenty to do there--concerts, art, shopping, etc. You can take classes in whatever. Hot in the summer and cold in the winter, for sure, but all in all not a bad place to be. I grew up in Topeka but live in Texas now, and in the summer I long for those cooled-down evenings sitting out on the porch. My Dad used to say to me and my sisters: "Some day you girls are going to appreciate Kansas!" and he was so right.

Welcome from a fellow Kansasan (Ft Leavenworth area) and former military wife. Wanted to let you know that there is a quilt shop in Manhatten called "All About Quilts". They are a Bernina dealer. You can go to their website at: www.about-quilts.com. I have not been to visit yet. I am sure that they have classes and quilting groups.
