Yea, I have a 99 and she is a sweetie! I also have other vintage singers which I dearly love, but don't think I would pass on a 99. They are real workhorses.

YES YES YES!!!!I have 2 99's. One is a Singer that I bought 30 years ago and have taught my children and girl scouts how to sew on it. I also have a "new" Spartan which is a stripped down model of the 99. I took it to a quilt rertreat last week and it replaced a newer machine and sewed all week. I think it was smiling for the excercise.

I'll post on this discussion what I decide. If I don't get it, my first post had the craiglist listing.

Oh I'm guessing you will love it. I already own a 1952 Featherweight, which I love as well. I bought mine off of ebay. I just took a class on how to maintain it and was amazed all the spots that needed to be oiled. Luckily it doesn't have to be done very often, and I bought a book to show everything about it. I'm set! Good luck to you in your decision making.

I don't know of anyone. I'd keep an eye on craigslist. I'm not sure where else to look, except to call the LQS's to see if someone is trading one in.

Yes, I would. That oak table sounds interesting, also.
