I had a dr who I had seen for years tell me that I really needed phsyiatric help. He wasn't my family dr after that. I went on to others and have been on SS Disability for 8 years now. I guess it wasn't in my head! I would paint my toes but theres' no way my body will bend like that. I will wear purple though. My favorite color.

WE all know it's for "real" altho it's been an uphill fight for sure. Whenever I write the congressfolks, I point out that when I had to go on SSDI finally, I was making a good salary and contributing to the economy and now I am "draining" it. I figure if I can raise their awareness on a financial level that maybe the light will go off in their heads!
As they say "what do they call the doctor who graduates last in his class...DOCTOR!". The rheumatologists at least know we are for real, it's their subspeciality. Tho they seem to be reluctant to prescribe adequate pain meds, which means I gotta see both my paindoc and the rheumie, but I just see her once a yr to touch base.

Oops! Will have to wash a load of reds so I will have something clean and purple to wear!
I was diagnosed 12 years ago but have had it much longer. I take a handful of pills every day. Been on Lyrica for a few months now and it seems to have lessened the pain. It certainly isn't gone but much better. I have learned that I need to avoid sugar. It seems to make the pain worse. Of course do I avoid sugar? Not. And I'm diabetic. Struggling with this.
I don't know how I would make it without my occasional Lortab. The drs are so stingy with it. Won't give me but 15 a month and no refills so I have to spend $25 every month just to go get my refill. Irritates me.
Anyway....so glad you brought awareness to this day! I didn't know it existed.

For all of you struggling with this, here is one of my favorite quotes: "I have fibromyalgia, fibromyalgia doesn't have me".
This photo sums up the pain down my spine most days
