I am curious, do you quilt yr own or send it out? Why

I do all my own. I use my home machine to do large meandering or straight lines with a walking foot in general. I don't like doing anything too complicated on it as it hurts the wrist I broke when I was younger to push the fabric into the tight space. I also rent time on a longarm machine so I get to do that too when I want :) I really want to own a long arm someday but it will be years before I have space available for one in my home :(

I really hated wrestling with my quilts to quilt them on my Bernina and got no real pleasure out of the quilting phase anyhow, so I started sending mine out. It was reasonably priced and I could spend my limited time on piecing which is what I really like to do.
About a year ago, I realized that I was sewing a lot more after joining QB and the tops were stacking up. I decided to look for a used LAQ machine to do it myself. I found one and so now I finish them myself. It's much easier but I still don't love the quilting part.

Please tell me how you get your quilts at the sewing machine to quilt them. I had the most awful time with a double. I wouldn't attempt anything larger. Also would rather stay with the lap quilts. Maybe I just need more practice. I don't know.
