I still do needle turn and love it. I think you see less of it now because there are so many lovely pieced quilts. I learned how to piece first, then had to teach myself to needle turn because there were no classes available where I lived. It is still my favorite form of applique.

I am still doing needle turning applique. How else would you do all the intricate stuff. I am not a cut and paster.

I love to hand stitch, it is relaxing I think. But I am a hand person anyway. Guess it is whatever you like to do.
Have a Blessed day

I love to attempt NT applique....you see the "attempt"! LOL! My carpal tunnel doesn't care for it, but I love the results that a really good NT appliquer can achieve! Hopefully one day, my attempts will be that good. I'm doing the Affair of the Heart with the group here on the board...I think quite a few are doing needle turn...the blocks so far are beautiful and the cyber sew doesn't officially start until June 5....you NT'ers should come join us!

Needle turn applique is using your needle to turn under the edges of your applique piece then stitching it to the background fabric so there are no raw edges showing.

You mean turning raw edge over with needle , (hand sewing needle) u mean and pinning it? Then hand stitching or machine stitching it?

This is one girl that is doing the back basting and needle turn. Last year I took Mary Lou McDonalds Baltimore Album class and she taught us that and then some of the more complex designs to put onto pellon and then needle turn them. When I'm waiting somewhere I have to do something so I keep my applique and my NooK Color with me to make the waiting time go by faster. I love your designs; they are beautiful
