I use the stool that came with the old singer I sew on and it works great for me.

I sit in my most comfortable high back resin Patio chair along with an oat filled pillow form for my back. They both work really well for me. I fell comfy while I do my sewing. :o)

I was at the GoodWill store in Lafayette,IN. I looked up, and there was this little Blue desk chair, it was $5! The best five dollars I have ever spent! No more backaches! When I sit in the chair, it hits me in the small of my back, right where I need the support!

For the machine I use most I have an old office armless chair that rolls on 5 casters. The back and height are adjustable.

It take some testing to find one that's just right. Look for lumbar support, especially if that's where your pain is. There are lots of choices out there. Maybe some stores will have an exchange policy so that if your new chair doesn't work out for you, you can trade it back for a different one, but there might be a restocking fee.

If you have carpet, get a protective mat to roll or slide on. Being able to roll with ease might make a difference to your back. Good luck!

A dining rooom table chair cauethat's where my machine is. We have a very small one bedroom houe weened on the fly when hubby first got this job up here in KY. Signed a years lease, but that will be up next month so we will be moving to a bigger place, one that will let me have my very own space for sewing and onethat will let me FINALLY get all of my things out of storage!

I sit on an old wood diningroom chair that is missing its back. One of my kids broke it years ago so my husband just cut the back off. It sits at just the right level for comfort at the table I keep my sewing machine on.

I purchased my Horn sewing cabinet and a sewing chair to go with it at the same store where I purchased my sewing machines. It is similar to an office chair without arms, rolls easily and is adjustable. Neither was cheap but I figured I would have it forever so I got the best I could afford. It is very comfortable.

THAT PLATFORM IS A GREAT IDEA. MY GRANDMA HAD A LITTLE ROUND FOOTSTOOL THAT WAS USED FOR HAND STITCHING, SHE DID A LOT OF EMBROIDERY. I TOO AM SHORT ONLY 5 FT NOW. I WILL ASK MY DH TO MAKE ME A PLATFORM WHEN WE SET UP MY NEW SEWING ROOM. THIS IS THE THIRD SUMMER HE HAS BEEN BUILDING OUR NEW RETIREMENT HOME. MEANWHILE, I USE AN OLD ICECREAM PARLOR CHAIR. ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT!
