Plasma tv's tend to run a bit hot. We have 4 LCD tv's and one is my husband's monitor for his computer.

We have 2 Vizio's (46", 37"), a Sony(18") and an Insignia(32").

LED's are clear/sharper than LCD's. Last time I bought one the salesman said Sony, Samsung, Vizio are 1,2,3 in ranking.
I have a 60 inch in my living room and it is too big. I have a 36 inch in my bedroom which I like. It is only about 6 feet rrom me so the size is just right. If it were further away I would think about a 42 or so.

Visa Versa here. We have a Plasma and yes you can see if from the sides. I have mine in the corner and you can see it from different angles! Now are LCD, different situation! You can't see it from the side view! And, it is not as clear as the Plasma! We have had our Plasma for going on 3 years now. It is a Panasonic and we purchased it from Sears and it is not a mirror like tv that you can see in while it is off! That is the way ours is! Love the Plasma over the LCD! We have 2 small (42") LCD's and our Plasma is a 50"! The plasma does have a clearer picture on it! That is my opinion!

i have a sony and love it. Never had any problems just operator error haha!! My best advice is to try and look at the tv from the distance you will be sitting from it. Makes a world of difference in being to small or to big.How far away is the sitting area from tv viewing?

My opinion only........I've shopped LOTS of TVs.
LED is the sharpest picture and shows very minor pixelation during fast movement on TV (such as sports or running animals). Don't go any lower than 1080p resolution.
I have found that Samsung Makes a superior LED TV.

We have (2) JVC flat screen TVs size 46" & 42" which are Teledock for IPOD and downloading and they are in our bedrooms. No TVs in the living room area, so if you come over to visit, you can play games on my computer; but no TV for you unless you're one of my kids or grand kids.
We don't download with them yet, just channel surf the cable shows and movie shows.

It depends alot on the lighting in the room... plasma has come a long way recently so it really does depend on the lighting in the room that you are putting it into. I have an 20" LCD, 40" LCD and a 44" Plasma all are name brands. Size all depends on the size of the room as well. I love our big plasma & the LCD they are both great. But people are right, don't go under 1080p

We got a 47" LG HD LCD and love it. Got it at Walmart and even the salesperson agreed that it's picture was the clearest between Sony and another brand, forgot what it was. We had had a 52" rca that went out after 4 and a half yrs. and got so used to the bigger screen that we hate smaller ones. I bought a solid oak stand for $20 at a thrift store it is less than 47" wide to set ours on. We too, were told not to get a plasma. You definitely wantthe1080p as the newer DVD's seem to be for that.

Vizio is rated number one for overall. We just purchased my Mom one for her birthday and it is really nice so we are going to get one for my sewing room. We are on our second Mitsubishi and the first one went 12 years without a problem. We just wanted to go "bigger" and went with the 65".

DH got himself a 40" plazama flat screen and hung it on the wall in the kitchen. Now I will watch it when I`m in that room, but pleaswe dear lord do no let him get the idea to put one in my living room. You can see every thing, my cute little soap opera actors had warts on their faces, and in the men, if you stand close to it, you can see the holes on thier faces where thier beards are growing. One good thing ....we have such a differance in the show we watch, that we each have our own t-v.
