I am not a great fan of Kafe Fassett so probably not the best person to give an opinion. I have not made a 4PP, OBW or stack n whack of any kind with any of his fabric BUT my instinct would be that his designs are too busy for this, too much scattered colour. The thing with using a limited colour palette, ie 3 or 4 colours maximum, is that in these fabrics, the colours tend to be distributed across the pattern, So if you have a fabric that is only purple, green and cream for example you will get blocks that are mostly purple, blocks mostly green and blocks mostly cream, giving you lots of variation and design interest, If you have a very busy multi-coloured fabric, the multicolours tend to show up in every block, giving less variation. I hope that's clear. My favourite fabrics for stack n whack, 4PP, OBW etc are the Asians - long repeats, striking but limited colours and lots of swirls. :-D
I am not a long time quilter and 4PP, OBW and stack n whack
are foreign titles to me. Please someone explain what those terms me. What kind of a pattern?

4PP = Four Patch Posie
and yes, it's a four piece version of a SAW

OBW = One Block Wonder
You cut six layers of triangles and sew them together as hexes

SAW = Stack and Whack
On this Board it's usually referred to as the 8 piece octagons.
Although all of these are really SAWs!
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain it. I would only wish others would take the time to read it......

:oops:

As nobody was too sure about a 4PP with Kaffe Fassett fabric I took the opportunity of a sale at hancocks of paducah and ordered the same print in six different shades/colors. I will experiment with that, will see what a OBW out of six different colors but same print will look like.
I was really not fishing for compliments! The beige background of the floral print is a dull, somehow even dirty color. But the fabric was dirt cheap and perfect for trying a 4PP out. Thanks anyway for the compliments :lol:

I think it is one of the prettiest 4PP I have seen. If the blocks are all alike, what is the point? This has beautiful colors and is one anyone would enjoy using, so if your cats get tired of it, I will be glad to send you my address:)

Well, I don't particularly like pink, but I would gladly kick the cat off the couch and snuggle under this one (or maybe share with the cat). I think it is lovely, and I think you have a nice variety of blocks.

I really like this quilt. I think the lack of color contrast lets the beauty of the fabric and quilting show through without the distraction of many colors. Great job!
