Mine is in the cool basement (hot hot hot here) and the concrete works just fine. Cool on my feet in the heat (did I mention it is hot hot hot here?) and very easy to clean up, find pins (ouch) and lets my chair roll from the machine to the iron and back again!

wood or other smooth surface for sure and since i FMQ and piece standing (back hurts sitting) a movable 'fatigue' mat is nice. had carpet, was terrible, and i think i am allergic to vacummes now.

No carpet for this lady here. Wood and tile/ceramic for me. It's much easier. And some area rugs, if wanted, are nice to have.

I love the wood floor in my sewing room. A dust mop is all it takes to clean up!

Sorry folks. I prefer carpet in my sewing room. The dust bunnies cling to it when the ceiling fan is on, and it is easily cleaned with a quick pass of the vacuum.

WOOD, I love it. Easy clean up, no where for pins and needless to hide and it looks awesome.

I have wood with large rug and thread and everything get on the rug. Thinking of removing the rug but it was just used as a accent color (Red) for my black & white scrapbooking/quilting room. Only have three rooms with carpet in my house with wood under them and can't wait to rip that carpet out. I have two bedrooms with carpet and two without, I have living room with carpet but Formal Living & dining room with wood and want to re-do the covered up wood!

I have carpet, but at one time in a prior residence, I had wood. I much prefer wood. Easier to keep clean and no fallen pins sticking up.
