Mine usually do while I am quilting them. Some quilts start with a small beautiful piece of fabric tht reminds me of someone.

Sometimes it is hard to give them away -- but what would I do with so many. I have the pictures to remember them by

I have a hard time working on a quilt that does not belong to the person I am making it for. It took a long time to figure out the dragging feet. If the quilt belongs to that person it goes so fast.
My DH thinks I am nuts when I say this quilt doesn't want to go there.

I understand exactly. I guess a great many of us are in the same boat. LOL. Both my quilts and my fabrics speak to me. If I am putting fabrics together and they don't like the placement, they will tell me. If I am stuck I just have to lay the fabrics out and let my mind go blank and they will tell me which to put where. I mostly run into difficulty when I forget to listen to the fabrics or my muse. I'm not positive who/what is guiding me, but I know if I just let it flow, it always comes out happy in the end. :D

I pick the pattern and the fabric to match the person before I make it.

Sometimes they tell me to whom they should go. Sometimes they tell me to whom they should not go also!

You are so in tune! I almost always find a fabric that calls out someones name so I just have to do it and surprise that lucky person. sometimes It's me!

Soemtimes I see a piece of fabric and I just know who would love it and then I plan my quilt. Other times I have the person in mind and look for a specific material that just tells me it is for that person.

Sometimes it's the fabric, sometimes the pattern, and sometimes just the all-over feeling of the quilt; but yes they do tell you who they should go to.
