welp, I am older than dirt too but I am in good company at least lol. I was standing in the toilet paper isle at the store and the thought came to me that you don't see any colored toilet paper anymore or colored flowers on it. only white. i remember my mom always getting blue to match the bathroom.same with kleenex.

mean you had a Pump at the sink to get your water, No
heating there, had to put water on the stove for hot water,
and when you had a biggggggggg metal tub you out water
in )outside) so the sun would heat the water. When color tv meant you put this colored plastic film on the tv screen,screen was about 10 inches,still had that one in 1961. Breakfast was
hot biscuits with a side of Karo syrup or molasses. A side board was where you kept the dishes, karosene lamps, no electric
and every year used the gum-like square to clean the wallpaper
in the house,the bathroom was called the out-house because
it was out side. Watch for snakes and spiders. A one or two
hole place out there...........a washing machine with a ringer and two set tubs to rince the clothes and the big black cast iron kettle to boil the clothes with lye soap to really clean them,oh my am I old....yes.... :)

Remember when a Commode was a piece of furniture in the bathroom that held a bowl and pitcher, towels and washcloths and Papa's tooth powder? It was culture shock when I got to TX the first time in 64 (19, that is) and found out the WC or toilet was called a commode. I thought they were nuts. I loved toast right off the cast iron stove you used to cook and heat the house with. It was black and yummy. Nothing like it.

I remember 9 of them,

No central heat. The heater was in the center of the house and those farthest from the heater had more quilts and those closest to the heater were too hot.

The black and white tv was in the living room and really small. Dad had command of it and one of the kids was the remote control..."You, go change the channel."

No stores were open on Sundays or holidays.

Perfect score! Not only remember the Studebaker , there was also the Nash. We had to light the water tank to have a bath or use the washing machine. Writing with a pen and nib, street cars, roller skates that you adjust to your shoes with a key.

Well, I guess I'm older then dirt got them all!! We did have White Castle's ,but we only got to go once in a while as a treat. I remember they would do a sale a bag of burgers for a dollar and it was enough for our whole family of 8, well my youngest brother was just a baby. I miss those days children didn't lip off to their parents or grandparents. We did worry about playing out side.
