Hi Steve, yes, that is the quilt I made for my daughter. The colored squares have a lady bug print. I'll get more pics in soon.
I am going thru radiation now, and hope to get quilting again soon. I appreciate all the kind words and prayers, I also have enjoyed reading all the hints and tips you all share.

Ladybugs, how cool is that! It sounds like a wonderful respit from the illness. One stitch at a time sews the quilt. :D

cheyenne100954, Welcome! That was my very first quilt, years ago, from a breif magazine article. You may want to try Eleanor Burns' Quilt in a Day books. She really strives to fins easy ways to do many patterns.

hi Vicki,
I don't really have tips, I just lay the pieces out, sew the squares together, then just lay the pieces back out, sew the squares together, till i have entire strips, then sew strips together. Using a design board to plan the pieces out, or graph paper for large quilt ideas, then the design board to be sure I liked the colors together, I have done 3 round the world tops.
Ones I like doing also are diagonal stripes, very pretty and easy to do. Good luck.

The one I made was strip pieced. You added a new color to each layer, cut again, and assembled on quarters. There's a cute variation here:

You would have to adjust sizes to make it a queen.
