That is gorgeous and obviously took tons of work. If you don't let animals on your bed, or have kids that eat on it, your bed is the best spot for this treasure. This quilt should be loved frequently. Do not put in into a box for "someday or somebody special". Today is special. You are very special for doing it and it will mean more to your decendants if you slept under it.

Your quilt is beautiful, and if it were mine, I would put it on my bed where I could see it every day. This is worthy of being an heirloom to be passed down to your grandchildren and their grandchildren. Use it with love (and care) and enjoy it. And, for those "heirs", write the story of how and why it was made, by you, and date it. Blessings~~~~~
