DD is at the lake and her phone service is off and on. She'll be leaving today so I'll be sure and find out tonight about the nerve shot.

The injection is only good if you have not had shingles and I do believe health insurance will pay.

MayoClinic:
"Whether they've had shingles or not, adults age 60 and older should get the shingles vaccine (Zostavax), according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)."

I got some comfort with prescribed pain tablets, pain patches and an ice pac on the affected area. I have been suffering since January. Shingles is something you do not wish on anyone.

Ok, I talked to DD. She went to a Neurologist who referred her to a different nerve specialist, she couldn't remember the specialist exact title. She had a MRI, required, and then the nerve block shot. She said it was given at the brain stem and her head went numb for about five minutes. The shot shocked the nerve that was hurting and that stopped the pain. The other nerves that wasn't agitated wasn't affected at all. The shot block lasts her about 18 months and then she gets another one if a shingles outbreak repeats and causes her pain. She said the shot is given to fibromyalgia patients that had severe pain. She said the shot didn't hurt at all.
