This is JUST AN IDEA that I came up with. Not sure that it can be done or not.

Has anyone tried to make a quilt using their family's crest?
Is that something that is do able?
How would I go about getting a pattern? I have a picture of our family crest on my computer and just thought about making a quilt or even just a wall hanging.

Any ideas I would sure be glad to hear them.

I often make quilts using photos. Go to Kinkos and have them scan and then blow it up to the size you want. Cut out the pcs and fuse and finish as you please. My avatar is a work in progress done that way. It now has a couple of scuba divers added. I'll finally be ready to quilt it very soon for my hubbys birthday. The family crest is a good idea for our family reunion's silent auction next year. Thanks for the idea.

Its late and I left out stuff. Trace the pcs onto under wonder or something similar then cut that out and fuse to your fabric. Keep your original in tact in case you need it again.

Thank you. I just thought it would be a cool idea. My nephew recently was thinking about having a crest done on paper...and I think that IF I can figure out how to do it...maybe I will make it for him. He would be so surprised. LOL

It is difficult to give advice without seeing the crest. You certainly can do it but the detail will dictate the technique used. I did a medical symbol in applique. I don't know how to send a picture with this message but will post it as a new topic.

I've done one of my family crest years ago. I enlarged the design by hand on graph paper and needle turn appliquéd it. I'll post a pic, if I can find it.

Very cool idea! And some nice examples here in the thread. As like the others, I would say applique is probably the way to go.
