I also agree that this is a good book to begin with.

Egg Money Quilts is a great book, as are all of hers. Right now, I am lusting for "Barns Across America".

I have alot of her books and all are easy to follow.
Her latest book Quilts on American Barns is for more advanced quilters.
My favorite is Stars Across America, lots of different stars to do.
Still Striping and Quilts Through The Seasons are the best for variety and easy to do.
Be sure to watch her videos on her website. Look for the button that says television and videos.

I purchased the Egg Money Quilt book and I am currently doing the Sampler One lap quilt. It is fun and easy to follow. I am also a beginner.

Well, it looks like "It's El-ementary" seems to be one often mentioned as good to begin with. I am hoping to learn from the book as I make a quilt.
Thank you all!!

All of her books are wonderful. I have so many, I don't even know the exact number. I have made several of her quilts, but only had a problem with one. Should have read the measurements of the quilt because then I would have made changes. A twin was the same length as a King with 16 inch blocks when I wanted the smaller block size. A good lesson learned there ! Her books are easy to read and turn out beautiful.

Eleanor Burns was a Kindergarten Teacher and All her patterns are relatively simple if you just read her directions and she has wonderful tools.

I am also in your category, a newbie. I love many of her books and I think that Egg Money and Log Cabin are great books to have and use for years to come. They are relatively simple. Don't buy them in the store. Go online to a fantastic site called Better World Bookis, whose prices cannot be beat. I have bought so many books from them and the shipping is free. At the same time you are helping literacy around the world. You can compaire the prices and will see for yourself. I have bought used books and when I got them they looked brand new.
HAPPY QUILTING.

Elenor has her books ranked by beginner, intermediate, applique, sampler, etc. If you look at one of her books in a quilt shop the back inside cover has a list of her titles and they are ranked by difficulty level. I saw the list in one of my books titled Block Party Series:Quilter's Almanac
