wasp spray will kill them. I am one of those who cannot even look at a picture of one, so I have MANY cans of wasp spray since I live close to a swamp. btw - if you have a cat, be glad. in a face off between a snake and a cat, cat wins 99 out of 100 times! Our neighbors have cats for this very reason, and I bribe them with treats.

I saw one huge water snake climb up the barn door and disappear. I didn't go back into that barn for months because I knew he was in there. This was a BIG snake at least 4' long and 2-3 inches around. I'm shivering just thinking about it again.

I yelled for my son to come and help. He came, took one look at the snake and disappeared. I kept calling him but no luck so I finally went into the house. When he came down the stairs I asked why he didn't help and he said he was looking in the encyclopedia to see what kind of snake it was. ;-)

There is snake away.
Smells just awful too. A lot like moth balls.
Be careful around pets.
Comes in a white bottle with red and black label.
Can get it at some garden centers too.

Snakes can climb up, but they really don't like the roughness that much. If that is any consolation.

I heard that snakes won't cross through oil either.
A gal that I know lived in the south and she poured used engine oil around her fence line and snakes never crossed it.

I think it clogged the pours in the bellies or something.
If the snake away gets wet you have to replace it.

I have heard a snake won't crawl over a rope, but am not sure if that is true. Try putting a big, rough rope around the perimeter of your balcony.

yes they can climb. Here in the country we use sulfur to sprinkle around our property line but after a rain we have to redo it.
