Are you accepting quilt squares or just whole quilts?

Bless you for coordinating this. I am a disaster responder (volunteer), providing care and rescue for animals displaced by disasters. A few years ago, maybe 2008, I responded in Valley City, ND. I received a simple quilt from the Mennonites in the area. I treasured that quilt. One of my cats claimed it, which was OK, since it came to me via the animal world. When she passed, my DP wrapped her up in it for her burial. I started to object, but then decided to let it go with her. The memory of the quilt will always be with me, as well as the kindnesses extended to me by the people of the community so affected by natural disaster.

At this time for the purpose of firefighters needs, we need whole quilts as the need is immediate. I am aware that Bastrop quilters/shops are adopting the motto "Building Bastrop one block at a time" and some shops outside area would gladly accept any blocks. The only one I know of at this time is Gerlines in Giddings TX ([email protected])
Also, The Quilt Store in Austin TX is accepting donations of some sort-their email ([email protected])
I am sorry I can't be of more help in this area. Thanks for all your support ya'll are awesome! K

I live about 60 miles to the south of Bastrop and the smoke from your fires choked us way down here, so I can only imagine what it must have been like on the front line. I also have been to the Lost Pines QS and loved the visit. My quilt group meets on Tuesday and I will relay your request. I'm almost positive you will receive donations of more than the 11 requested. My group has also made pillowcases for any of the fire victims. Can we send them to you too? May God bless you and everyone involved in fighting the fires & helping others to get back on their feet.
