Does it bother you when a quilt is referred to as a blanket?

I agree. We do not make blankets. We make quilts. Both have a place and both are different items. One better than the other? No, just different.
I am still in a stew about a beautiful quilt I made for a mother-to-be family member and her thank you note. Good for her she has manners, but her message was "Thanks for the pretty blanket." She knows the difference. She has lived in the middle of Amish country and has been surrounded by quilts and quilting all of her life. Shame on her to be so, so, so ........
Whew! I feel so much better! A little whine is good every now and again. I trust that time will open her eyes. If not perhaps the baby will grow up loving her home made "blankie" and that will make the effort all worth while.

It bothers me a little sometimes. However, I know a woman who belongs to a group called "Caring Covers" who make quilts, blankets, afghans, fleece blankets, etc., etc. For organizations like PL, a "caring cover" qualifies and defines what is donated, quilts, blankets, etc. For organizations like PL, not such a problem to me, but take me to a quilt show and have people call them blankets, that is entirely a horse of a different color. lol.
