    2 years ago, a very dear friend was diagnosed with brain cancer. Hearing this, I decided to make a quilt for her, hoping the love, joy, and energy included with each stich would help comfort her and aid in her healing. Sadly, my friend died shortly after her diagnosis and before I finished her quilt. It knocked the wind out of my sails, I cried for days, and packed the quilt away. I brought it out today and decided it needed finishing. I'm thinking her family will want it, I'll ask when it's done. I have a long way to go with it, the star in the picture is the only one complete, I finished it just to take the picture. The floral is a wide striped fabric, I cut triangles, four joined to make the square. The star is paper pieced. I'll keep you posted with my progress. Helen would love to know it's being shared even before it's completion.

    This quilt will be a lovely tribute to Helen. At first, I thought the first square was a single piece - you've done a lovely job with it and the star too!! I think it's going to be wonderful. :D

    How special. I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

    Here's just an idea--maybe, just maybe..a passing thought... what if you made a wall hanging from the quilt idea and gave it to her family to hang and see up every day.

    You sure do beautiful work.

    Very, very pretty. Is it going to be a sampler with each block different or a repeat of the blocks shown. I love those fabrics. Very soothing.

    That is really beautiful! It reminds me of a church stained glass the way you pieced and framed the striped fabric.

    Can't wait to see it finished.
