I put a 'jar' of clocks on my daughters jar quilt----Time in A Bottle----and yes, that's why I put it on there. She's too young to have ever heard of the song but it was one of my favorites.

When I was in 5th grade we sang the song in music class "O the Days of the Kerry Dancing"; reminded me so much of my Irish grandmother. She was my quilting inspiration many years later and after many more years I am making a double Irish Chain quilt titled "O the Days of the Kerry Dancing".

My quilting bee (Odd N Ends) is doing this same challenge. I chose the song Margaritaville. I found a picture of 4 pink flamingos in bikini's and the guys in trunks with a hat holding margaritas. Tooo fun!

I collect pie birds, so I made a wall hanging of "Four and Twenty Blackbirds, Baked in a Pie". It was actually made for our Guild challenge to use only black and white fabric with one accent color of your choice.

yes, actually I have. I have made a few Nativity quilts for friends with Silent Night, or the Halleluia chorus on it.

I have made banners for my church using a song for inspiration.

Good Luck on your challenge.

Have any of you ever quilted something that was inspired by a song? Please share.
I have not yet made a quilt based on a song but I do have one in mind. I would do Country Roads. Being from West Virginia, I can see the quilt in my mind. I did do a painting based on Amazing Grace and have thought of doing a quilt similar tot he painting. I always have more ideas thatn I have the time to complete. I guess I wan to try everything.

I've never done this but think it's a really neat idea. Fun to read about what others have done.

We had a similar guild challenge - the song had to have "red" in the title. Our sister guild did the same challenge with "blue" in the title. There were some amazing quilts made from very very creative interpretations - many of them had 3-D elements to them. The size of the finished quilt had to be 18x22 to keep it "doable," simple, fun and inexpensive.
