Well friends of the shop, I just took a loaf of bread out of the bread machine and it smells so good. Come Join me for a cup of tea and hot bread and butter or homemade blackberry or peach jam. We can talk about our latest project. I am in the middle of sewing quilt rows together and need a brake.

Don't mind if I do. I've been doing assorted house keeping chores - I just don't feel like I accomplished much. But the dust was getting to me.... so here I am. Oh and I worked on 2 machines until I needed to order some parts.

Does anybody know what the best belt to buy is - my little 99 needs a belt.

Nancy, I know that you don't always read the other vintage sewing machine threads. I'm trying not to now that there are so many, but I did notice Joe's on his Sewmor. http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...a-t179348.html

Joe, has a Sewmor 404 that is like owning a Singer 15. It can backtack and drop the feed dogs, just like the Singer 15s. All he needs is a manual, even a Singer manual will work to see how the Sewmor operates.
The Sewmor can be treadle too!

Just like the e-machine, FMQ on the treadle take practice. The smoother the treadle, the easier it is; otherwise, it is a workout.

I just zig zag two pieces of battings together for the second time. First time they didn't lay flat; so, I re-cut to straighten out sections that were causing the problems. Now, I'm getting ready to baste. I'm making a lap size quilt with three of the paper-piecing stars that I made following the 50 Fabulous Stars BOM post. I used my 201 in treadle for the PP. This quilt will just have three of the state stars, giving it a modern look. Here is a look at the Ohio star.
I will be doing straight line quilting, using my Davis NVF for that.

Very pretty star. I just sewed a whole row together and put it together wrong so have to rip and start over. fun fun.

Yep, sure can. I've located a manual for the Sewmore, and already have one for a 66-16. Other than the crinkle paint the two are the same.

At this point I just don't have a treadle with a back tack.

See if your Sewmor fits into one of your treadles. It looks like can be treadled without having to change the wheel.
I treadle a 201 that doesn't have a spoke wheel. Purplefiend does too; from one of her posting of her 201 in treadle, I learned that it could be done.
