Default Another acquisition - Spartan with Cabinet

Found this one on E-bay .... paid a whole .99 cents for it. I honestly told the guy when I went to pick up it up that .99 cents was obscene and offered him more ... he refused and said he was happy to have it out of his garage. He said his wife sells real estate and she was always "dragging things home".

Singer Spartan SN ES737673 in an auto-lift cabinet fitted with a knee lift. He had already taken the head out of the cabinet when I arrived and the motor was wire-tied to the cabinet insert.

The machine was listed as "not working" but that's half the fun isn't it?? On further questioning he said "it works ... it just doesn't run very fast". OK then.

She's dirty, but will clean up easily and beautifully! The bed is flawless, no rust anywhere, one little nick to her Japan on the upper pillar. The cabinet will need a bit more work but not a lot. The face plate and bobbin plates ... beautiful condition.

Now ... her SN on ISMACS lists her as a 99 made in 1961. I know the Spartan is a "stripped down" version of the 99, but not sure if I can trust the SN (thought they would have listed it as a 192 or 192K) ... or does the SN list all the Spartans as 99's?

Now we can't wait until the weather breaks and we can start working on all the machines and cabinets that need attention. We need the garage and right now my cars are living in it.

    pictures as she arrived ...

I'm officially JEALOUS! I almost never get deals like that.

That's a nice cabinet with a nice machine in it.

Sweet deal and sweet machine! I do like a machine in a cabinet - it is just more comfortable for me to sew on it when it is anchored down in a cabinet. Congratulations!

That was a very, very good price. That is the first machine that I have heard of with so low a price, except, of course, for those that are given away or offered to anyone for free.

Sorry Sue I knew that as soon as I read your post. Just chalk it up to a senior moment. They are coming more often these days.
