"Beginner patterns" and "simple" have alot to do with who is doing them. My first lap quilt was a "quilt as you go" log cabin. I did not do any of the things you are suppossed to but it was fun and it is loved by the recipient. I like quilts that are simple shapes and uses color (and palm trees!) for the "pattern". There are lots of resource books in the library and free patterns on line...I like Jenny Doan's ideas best (Missouri Quilt Co.) because they are easy to follow and are really attractive patterns.
google her name and you will find a wealth of tutorials for future quilts, as well. ENJOY!

Welcome to the board. Sounds like you are hooked for sure. Let us see what you come up with.

I would suggest a day trip up to Rockledge to The Quilt Place. They have a bunch of tropical fabrics including palm trees.
