I am going to try to use the dark fabric but I am pondering how I am going to do it. If I have planned a table topper to begin with it would be easier. I will need to try to kind of QAYG with attaching the sashing/batt and back sash and flip them out around the edges. I think I will then repeat the oak leaf quilting on the dark fabric with white thread? I will post pictures when or if it turns out.

    What about alternating them?

So far not bad but it isn't exactly fun. Of course I only have a fat quarter of the dark fabric to work with so that makes it even trickier. I wanted to do them going around the center but had to settle for doing the corners and then sides because I couldn't figure out any other way. Oh and that's right, I am out of fabric and will have to figure out what to bind it with.

I'd paint the leaves different reds, yellows and oranges. PaintStiks probably.

I have PaintStiks, but they are big and clutsy to use. Can you get smaller ones, like the size of crayons?

For my personal taste, I would use a smaller print same colors as the pumpkin fabric.

I like that,Tartan, looking fabulous as is. I'm sure you'll find something to bind it with.

I would use the pumpkins with a small border of the dark between. Somehow I don't see maple leaves with your gorgeous oak leaves.

I like this idea, with either an inside piping or flange or very narrow 1st border.
