I have been following your DJ discusion and now I think I have to give my humble opinion to it:

Looking at my (already finished and assembled) Blocks and the Triangles (finished but not assembled yet) I cant picture a DJ with anything but a plain color background fabric.............UNLESS you make the blocks with plain color fabric!?
All this delicate corners and lines might mingle if you use for both a printed fabric. Did you ever had a perfect sewn corner and in that exact corner a dominate part of the print and steping back it looked distorted!? AAAARRGGGG..... the limitation of my english skills (we should comunicate more QuiltE)............do you know what I want to say??

So why not thinking of plain color fabric for the blocks or even better: prove me wrong!!

QuiltE: I fully understand your feelings. You want to make the DJ DIFFERENT. I had that idea too before I started. But I think the DJ is like Swiss chocolate: you cant make it any better. lol.

Hi granny_59.....if you go back a few pages on this tread you will see a few of my DJ blocks I posted . You will see I didn`t use plain color background....I think it looks awesome....don`t you think? I will be using all light colors and the background fabric is a light beige with a subtle design on it. I think it works? Would love to see your blocks...Always looking for inspiration!

I am following the thread from the beginning and of course your blocks look awesome. Like I said: prove me wrong. :-)

I posted my blocks here
http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...s-t197945.html

and just realized that I never posted a picture from the assembled blocks. I only have pictures from playing around with different solid colors for the triagles. I could not decide yet but most probably I will stick to the same bachground fabric like the one for the blocks.

I took count for the first time. So far 4122 pieces and 406 hours for the center, number of pieces and time needed for the triangles are on the tags of each triangle and will be added at the time...........
DJ is a wonderful journey - enjoy it!!!!

granny_59 your DJ is beautiful.

I have been reading the chat between huntannett and QuiltE and must say that the amount of background fabric required seems very excessive. I have been reading my Sylvia's Bridal Sampler book, (starting it in January) and the yardage listed is 7 yards. These blocks are 6 inches and there are 140. I would contact the participants on the DJ thread and ask their opinion. Just my 2 cents worth. QuiltE I had 5 yards of my background fabric for FWS and didn't use it all..

T--such a wonderful journey you have embarked upon. Your quilt is so lovely.
I've been enjoying all the talk on your DJ's. I'm so tempted but don't think the timing is right for me. Kudos to all of you who sew this work of art.
