I think you are being entirely too hard on yourself! I see a beautiful quilt made with love for your husband. The quilting certainly enhances the quilt.

I think you put a picture of the wrong quilt. That isn't ugly in the slightest. I love the fabric and the quilting is great. Your QI likes it too, and QI's are seldom wrong.

I think it's wonderful and I can't imagine a universe where your quilt could be considered even remotely ugly. And your DH loves it. That's what counts. Go you!

For what I would say is less than a year of quilting, this turned out very nice and yes the colors and pattern may not be your taste but just look at the great quilt you made. Even with all the trial and error method of quilting.

How did you make your half square triangles (HST)? Here is a method that I just discovered recently and what a difference it has made in my piecing. Look through the whole thread, it is a good conversation with lots of tips.

If you have seen this tutorial that's okay. I like to share ideas when I discover them.

Finally, The most important thing is that DH loves the quilt and it makes him happy. He doesn't care one bit about any "mistakes". Enjoy the doing with no matter to the side steps you have to take sometimes.
peace

I think you did very nice work on this quilt. Thee pattern looks very challenging and you did a very nice job on the quilting.

WAY too hard on yourself. Your fabrics and color sense are amazing. Your quilting is excellent - feathers and swirls in only one year? Great quilt!
