*sigh* and the ugly quilt award goes to? Me. Again.

I think your construction work is very good and I love the quilting. But I think the scale of the print is what is maybe throwing you off. Perhaps fussing cutting the cacti or using a less bold pattern would bring the quilt together, but you have a busy pattern competing for attention with a bold fabric, and neither wins the battle. But all in all, great job!

That fabric may not be speaking to you, but it's whispering sweet nothings in my ear. The number of pieces may have overwhelmed you. You might try sewing the long white and blue (or red) strips together, and then cut the smaller squares - no handling of the small half square triangles. Because you have only been quilting a year ( I say this very lovingly and not criticism), you would probably want to to observant of the direction of the pattern of the fabric so all the cacti are going in the same direction. You certainly have a talent for quilting, and you will soon be an expert.

If he loves it, it wouldn't matter if anyone else did or not. Having said that, I think, too, that you are being too hard on yourself. It is a very pretty quilt. Pretty quilting. A winner and one to be cherished by hubby.

I wish I could quilt so well. I am s-l-o-w-l-y teaching myself to machine quilt, and you are way ahead of me there. Just a quick comment on your quilt, your border in the photograph appears to be made of velvet, nice work.
Some of us are great piecers, some of us are great quilters, some of us make spectacular show quilts, and the rest of us make long lasting hugs for our family and friends. I am in the last group, and happy with being there. Welcome to the club, and if you move to one of the other groups, we still love you. Lol!
