Crossing coffee and tea or coffee and apple cider just seems so wrong.

Now hot chocolate and coffee, for a mocha ... different story!

You don't need one. Most any recipe that you might want to make in a crock pot, you can make in the oven at a low temperature. The all day stew recipe has been around probably longer than crock pots.

    Yes, you are correct.
However, ovens heat up the house a lot more than the crockpot.
(which right now is not so bad ... in the heat of summer, a blessing!)
And crocks are more energy efficient.

Anael ... I crocked scalloped potatoes the other day!

In the summer my crock pot is in the garage in the winter in my kitchen as for using the oven to slow cook it would triple my utility bill on gas or electricity THe crock pot can not be beat on utility cost and home made beans

I agree with a smaller crock pot. I love making desserts in my slow cooker. I have 2 large ones and a smaller one that is for cheese dip, but i've made oatmeal in it too. I love to put supper in one, dessert in the other and bread in the bread machine. Then I am free until dinnertime!
