Carol, I just finished two brown, black, and white quilts. I love them and I love your. I think the sashing color would be good if it was the color of the carpeting you quilt is laid on. Just IMHO.

After reading the post that says it looks like espresso, I thought about coffee cups appliqued in the blocks. I like what you have done so far.

Me agrees with her - sash with the creamy colour but put red piping either side.

I ended up using white for the sashing. It looks a lot better. Brightens up the colors. Not done...off to go to a quilting class on FMQ'ng and then pick up my Sweet Sixteen...I was hoping to finish this quilt in time to play with the new machine.

I agree also.

I agree that another layer of sashing would add interest. If Im undersatanding the current sashing color it Is a warm grey that has muted purple/mauve tones. Instead of going for a pop color I would go for something darker to let the checkerboard shine. You said there were alot of dark blues in the fabric so I'd look for a dark blue or purple. I drew out a quick sketch so you could visualize better. I also choose an off white border to let the eye go do the white and black in your blocks.
