I have the same pattern except where the white blocks are mine are blue. My grandmother used a blue dress that she had outgrown and being the youngest she could use it for her quilt. She was 13 or 14 at the time. My grandmother died in 1984 at the age of 90 and I have had it ever since. It is over a hundred years old and only has a few places where the stitching has come loose. My mother and I repaired them and it is now just a look at quilt. I'm looking into an acrylic box but need to research if it is a viable option for storing it.

I have a quilt from that pattern made by my grandmother about 1920. It is draped on the back of a chair in our guest bedroom.

I cherish her old works of art.

What a find! I have been piecing hexies for over a year and still have a long way to go to finish my GFG. Sure hope it isn't sold for $3.00 100 years from now.

Many useful suggestions already given you. Again, wonderful find.

You can also make yourself a purse from some of the smaller good areas (areas which are large enough to be a side of the bag). It would be a lovely purse!

I've seen Christmas ornaments made. Also Christmas stockings with old fashioned lace added - corduroy backing.

Don't you just feel bad for handmade items that are just languishing in the corner of a second-hand shop? I always feel like I need to rescue them. I handle them, and examine them & think of all the times & trials they have survived. I think of the hard lives of the women/men/children who worked on these items, or used them & the stories the items could tell.It really makes history come alive for me!

Whoever made that quilt is silently thanking you for rescuing it. $3, the person obviously did not know what a gem it is, even in it's present condition. I'm glad you rescued it, as it's really beautiful, and it was obviously well loved and used.

Hello, I just wanted to tell you I found a picture of a Flower garden's Mennonite quilt from the Shenandoah Valley, very similar to yours; The book’s name: ‘Quilts from two Valleys’ by Phyllis Pellman Good. I’ll try to post the picture from the book.
have a nice time with your quilt!
