I'm in the same boat, that and i just can't afford it, though I'm not going to say it's not worth it. That machine would have been so inspiring to sit at and sew. I see quilting patterns in it (and the rug below it), and the workmanship would be a goal to strive for. All in all, inspiration incarnate.

I have used paint before. I have antiqued furniture before. I even have a sewing table that I decided to do this with, but THAT is NOT attractive and yes I am distressed as well.
I am not sure what some of this "white wash" and "distressing" is all about. Much of it looks like I have no taste and did a half-a$$ed job of it.
