Default My New Old Machine

My Mother's Singer 401A I inherited. Finally took her in for service. First thing my guy did was plug her in and when he pushed the pedal "Gilda" sewed a straight stitch. Quiet as a church mouse too. My Singer 600 is quiet too. But my Janome 415 is a loud thing. He said bobbins that load on the horizon on top of the machine body are always quieter than those that load in front as they have more working parts. She hasn't been sewn on in probably 30 yrs.

so your LSMG hit on the pedal right away without oiling it first. that's strange and quite not right. every time i acquire a 'new' old machine, i make it a point to oil and clean it first before running the motor. metal to metal without oil - not good.

seriously though, that's a nice machine.

That's a beauty! It's good to have a nice machine like that freshly oiled and ready to play. Have a fun day!

I not only oil a machine and clean it before using, I let that oil sit overnight giving every part a chance to get some. Good ole gravity is your friend in these situations. Happy stitiching
