Well, you got a bunch of us checking out our feet, machine and manual. I was just sure there was a seam guide, and there is, I thought that the walking foot had a hole, it doesn't , there is no way to use both at the same time, there isn't. I came to the conclusion that I have not wanted to use both at the same time before. Actually, have never opened the guide in it's stapled little plastic pkg. Have definitely used the walking foot and also the pin feed.

Glad to know I'm not crazy or missing something.
I do have books on straight line quilting, and they recommend a walking foot and a guide. I've used a guide for years for decorative stitching, cross pintucking, so thought I'd try tangling with a walking foot, too. I've never had to use one as my Pfaff has a built in system called IDT. They don't even make a walking foot for IDT machines.

I have marking chalk, pens, whatever, and plenty of tape. I also have 3 cats that shed so tape makes a mess. It's just faster using a guide.

If someone made a walking foot with the open type holder like the zipper and some open toe FMQ feet, you could work it. Couldn't find one of those type of feet except for low shank.

If you check the regular foot for your brother it has a hole for the guide on it I think it slides into the hole ,and you can put the guide on ether side , I will look tomorrow,, with picture. DottieBug

Nope. This is a single stitch high shank high speed machine. Everything screws on the shaft.

I have a 1500s too and was disappointed that the walking foot didn't have a guide. I tried two different Janome feet to see if they would fit, no go. I took a Craftsy class on walking foot quilting. The instructor suggested buying a guide and using duck tape. I haven't tried it but I'm going to. Anything is worth a try.

This is the seam guide that came with my 1500S. I don't use it much because straight lines are not generally my thing, but it works fine. Did your machines not come with this guide?

That's what I meant by installing guide backwards. There's only about 1/16th of an inch for the screw to grab and I didn't trust it to stay put.

The guides aren't expensive. Maybe I'll buy another and ask DipSH if he can cut off part of the prongs so it fits closer.
