I really like the novelty fabric for the letters..a neat way to make an I Spy quilt.

I have dug in my 1 1/2" strips for the letters so who knows what fabrics will show up. I choose the light fabric of acorns and oak leaves from my stash. I have also cut 1 wof strips 2 1/2, 2, 1 1/2 and 1 1/4" wide as these seem to be the most common widths of light fabrics that are being used. The 1 3/8" cuts I trim from the 1 1/2. It makes quick work of cutting the light pieces from these "precuts".

You will notice I have some of the sashing on. Using the photo as a guide, I went into EQ and did a mock up and calculated I would need 71--1 1/2 x 4 1/2" rectangles. I cut 3--4 1/2" strips wof and proceeded to cut out the 1 1/2" needed sashes. I plan to sew the sash on the top of each letter. I need to cut 42 1 1/2" squares for the corner stones and sew another rectangle to the square vertical sashes. Next I will sew them onto the sides of each letter. I'm a little confused as Temecula says we will need 36--any thoughts? My EQ mock up in a 5 x 6 setting allowing for 26 letters and 4 pieced blocks.

    High 5 oksewglad!

I also cut 1.5" and 2.5" wof of my background. Cutting for these is fast but even faster (really girls 5 minutes plus or minus to cut) having the background precut. Sewing is about 10-15 minutes depending on how much frog stitching was needed. He he

Your little letters are so cute and you are very clever to use fabric to match the letters. i have been printing out the patters-one coming today- but have'nt started it yet. I want to make it for my granddaughter who is an elementary school teacher. I think it will be cute hanging in her classroom.

I love alphabets and text in quilts. Those eggs are adorable!
