That description fits an industrial needle feed machine. From what I know, it's actually easier on industrial needles because the needle is working in conjunction with the feed dogs, i.e. there is less backward pressure on the needle because it's moving with the material, then rises to form the next stitch. (I believe the needle begins to rise prior to reaching its furthest lateral position -- ??)

OK, just did a little research. Needle feed machines are 3 general types: parallel drive, upper pivot, center pivot. Parallel drive is just what the name implies, i.e. the needle enters the material at 90 degrees, drives (or helps to drive) the material perpendicular to a standard needle motion, then exits the material at 90 degrees at its furthest point of lateral (parallel) travel.

I think that's exactly what it is. I think they have the inner liner on the light and the hood in the drawer. I'm guessing though because the photo isn't clear enough to tell at that angle.

It's an original light hood but it's not original to that machine. The machine appears to have it's original one on it.

Oops! Rodney, you are right! A quick glance looked like that light might be incomplete, but it's actually the one I like better.

ETA: I wonder if they found the metal one too hot and wanted to change it out then found it was incompatible. I know I have tons of featherweight and other lightbulb tattoos.

Yeah. I guess I'm a slow learner.
