It kind of reminds me of college dorm furniture. No frills and very practical as a desk. Not so much as a sewing table though.

Someone (I am not blaming Cathy) got me even more interested in cabinets than I was. This one is really neat and to far away.

I'd say it's an actual industrial, and possibly a 31-15.
The little bit of profile I CAN make out looks right. Here's a comparison:

Archaic, I was just going byit did not seem to be a "Short arm" ( like my 103 and some of the 70 and 90 series machines) and it does not have any weird extra bumps on the top near the thread spool. that and the 31-15 seems to be the most common.

And I was agreeing with you. The industrials are a little harder to identify especially in a poor photo but the 31-15 is definitely the most common one I see here in Alberta as well.

If they're that common it must say something pretty good about them.

I think they're an awesome machine. They're very versatile and Singer kept making feet and plate combinations that just kept expanding its abilities. Of course as with any industrial machine, it's easy to let it get way from you and it will discipline you for it. DH says it scares the he...ck out of him but he handles it well when I sit him in front of it. A healthy respect for the machine goes a long way. As does "slipping the clutch" a little.
