I made a DWR last year when my daughter got married. I used a Judy Neimeyer pattern with the coordinating Creative Grids template set. Lots of work, but good results for this newbie. If I ever make another one I would do it this way again.

Paper-piece it. There is a free pattern online http://www.mccallsquilting.com/patte....html?idx=6913 (just google it) that makes it so easy. I did one last year for a wedding present and it turned out so nice. It was queen size and the rings were all scraps, I only purchased the background fabric and the backing.

I made one last year, well used a double ring in the quilt, I added hearts and hugs and kisses blocks to the quilt to add interest and uniqueness. Just like the couples uniqueness!!

Check out the Bali Wedding Star by Judy Niemeyer paper pieced - I purchased mine from Amazon - sorry it won't let me post pics tonight.

HINT: keep all your pieces organized once you cut them out, it was easy to get mixed up. I put them all in their own zipped locked bag and noted on the outside which pieces were inside.

Doesanyone else remember how John Flynn did his DWR back 'in the day'? He basically sewed a straight row with squares. The he took in so much at each seam where the squares met.

My great-grandmother left me her pattern for the double wedding ring quilt. Her advice to me was to use those scraps of fabric, so they could have a home. I've never made one of specific colors. I have made several over the years....one from my children's clothing once I had enough shirts. Was a gift to my mother, and yes, she cried.

Inklingo has loads of different wedding quilt ideas and would make this project easy to do with the option of selecting different size pieces to use for the arc. I started one a few years with the templates and switched to Inklingo halfway thru and it was so much quicker, you just need a printer.

I made my first double wedding ring last year; I used the paper piecing; it was awesome and everything fit perfectly. Here I a youtube link too, to Shari Jorgenen's video on how to make one using her templates. I did not use hers but she has some extremely good suggestions on the procedure; the one video on how to actually assemble it was most helpful. She also has a video on how to bind it.
