thank you QuiltnNan. this makes perfect logic. i have dropped most of my newletters last few years, no time to read them, but i do know when signing up for newsletters or registering to a new site membership, even installing software or software upgrade one must read every word. i have learned that it is presumed by companies that if we like them we'll like thier friends (partners) too. offers from "partners" to "monitoring" for whatever reason, i UNcheck everything.

i went through my profile and settings and can't find where to see if I signed up for the free quilting newsletter. Where would that be?

And i I do have an Ad Blocker but this came to me in an email, not as a pop up ad

I received the same email ad last night. I jut deleted it. I don't know if it's from the board, but I wasn't interested in it, so just deleted. I didn't sign up for any newsletters either. I know when I have done the shop hop most of their clue sites want you to sign up for their newsletter I never do.

I got that ad as well, but right away I knew it was not from QB but CreativeBug.

When I receive a suspicious email I click on the name at the top after 'from'. If the name that comes up doesn't match who it says it is then I delete!

Yes. I didn't click on anything. I was just curious how a website got my email address from quilting board. I can't find where the subscribe to free quilting newsletter. This was an email. Not a pop up ad. I have an ad blocker.

that freaked me out the first time i got one, too.
i had a fit, but did ask the marketing folks about it before jumping to any toooooo radical conclusions. LOL

Creative Bug has paid for an advertising partnership with the QB.
only those members who signed up for the newsletter and left the checkmark in the "receive emails from our partners" should get those emails.

they don't send emails often.
you can unsubscribe from the creative bug emails by following the link/instructions in one of those emails.
it will not have any effect on the QB reminder emails.
