    299.00?? It's listed as a 200 or a 201? I see a Singer 99 in fair condition. What am I missing?

It looks fairly complete and fairly decent condition. I know the cabinet has been discussed on QB as desirable for this Domestic machine although this has hinges on top rather than lift off.

I would love to get that style cabinet! too bad it's not a bit east of me instead of west!

love the part "no foot control so can't test it"

I contacted the seller and told them how to see if it runs using the knee bar.

The crazy thing is there is a bidder at that price! And they have increased their bid thinking someone else will get it? They must know a 201 is a good machine, but doesn't know how to verify what they are looking at?!? Around here 201s are about $100. I don't get it...

Prices may vary according to location, condition and how bad a buyer wants it.

It's got 3 or 4 bids from the same bidder. Very strange.

Yep. One of the case latches. People cut them off when they can't find the key. It's better to just take it into a shop - a Singer store will have a key for sure, many of the other sewing shops will too, even a lock smith should be able to get it open. There's almost never a good reason to "permanently" damage a case to get it open. Yes, hinges and latches can be replaced but I don't think spares were always available.

That smacks of a shill bidder, but that usually only happens if someone else is also bidding. Maybe they were trying to get watchers to bid? Once, years ago I accidentally put a $40 bid on something that was supposed to be a $4.00 bid and didn't catch it. I forgot about it and someone ran the bidding up at the last minute and I had to pay that $40. I've always wondered if the seller made that happen.

Hmm, You get interesting results when you look up a Davis number on a Singer chart

Too bad the warranty isn't filled in. 1900 is a good guess, the warranty paper probably has 19__. Unfortunately there a no Davis Model H warranties on the Needlebar website to get an accurate estimate from.
