I understand you, deadline motivate me. I have a long arm and have several tops and backs and batting, I just have to put them on the machine...

OK, I will pin it on the machine tonight and sew in the morning....I won't go to the computer or check facebook untill I have quilted at least 3 rows...

    Thank you Boston!

Well, thanks for the push. I went and got out a UFO that has been sitting for some time. Someone called it Zen. Little squares inside a larger rectangle. I think I will make a deadline of my birthday (Feb 8) to at least get the top done.

    Feeling good now.

I hadn't sewn for over six months, so when one of the local quilts shops started having a Second Saturday Sew-in once a month, I decided to give it a try. I figured carting my stuff to the shop for 7 hours of sewing without any distractions or guilt might just break the inertia and get me moving forward again.

It seems to be working and the interest shown by the other attendees, none of whom I knew that first day, in what I am working on is added motivation. We laugh and joke and teach and learn and everyone gets a lot done. This weekend will be my third month of going and the project I've been taking should be finished by the end of the day.

I think for many of us 'solo quilters', sometime we just get in a rut. Stirring things up a bit can really help break you out of the trance.

I would suggest joining Rhonda's Wall hanging swap. The next project isn't due until the end of February and that is plenty of time to create a small piece to share and exchange with the group. Take a look at the current swap and see what we are doing. Something small may get you going in the direction you want to go.

Sometimes downtime is needed to re energize. Don't be hard on yourself for not being in a sewing mood.
