For my comic boards some are cut in half (1/2), and some in quarters (1/4).
Fabric that is 1 yard or more (up to 2 yards) gets folded onto a full board.
The 1/2 (length cut) boards get fabric that is any length x full WIDTH of fabric
(9"x42" etc). UP to 35 inches.
Fat Quarters and Fat Eights go on the 1/4 cut boards.

I make a label for EACH board with fabric. I circle FQ F8 Half, or I write in
the measurement of the fabric.

I use a BLANK piece of index card to write "PANEL" with measurements

Sure hope I didn't over do my explanation of my folding/labeling system.

i like systems, although I'm better at creating than maintaining them! I'm still not sure (maybe you explained and I missed it) but
Do your colors mean something?
Does it cost to have them cut?
Have you found it a bother to remeasure, rewrap, and relabel a piece after you've used part of it?

No the colors have no meaning just random card I pluck from
the box (where I keep them).
The cost is very minimal less than a dollar per cut.
So far I just "measure" what I intend to take off a "bolt" and make
note on the label of the remaining amount.
I did fail to mention that NO part of the color cards ever comes
in contact with the fabric. I use archival clear tape to cover the
cards and labels.

My sewing space continues down the wall of the kitchen and extends into the bedroom area. That will be my next area to straighten.

Just for fun, here is a picture of where I keep my sewing/quilting books and a portion of my scraps. I don't cook so why waste space with a stove? : )

LOL I NEED 3 assistants to get it all finished in the first place.
I have about 45+ bins to still get folded onto the boards. That
doesn't count all the small and larger sizes of bins.

Cool industrial ceiling! Is this a loft? Looks like you get great light when curtains are open. I'm curious about how you organize fabric. I see all the solids together but the others are more random. By collection? Approximate size? No order, just neatly folded eye candy?

I have spent some time wrapping my fabric around comic boards. The shelf I have is a little deeper than a normal book shelf and I found that the wider comic book boards work for fabric bigger than 1 yard -- they take up a little less space. for me this is a Big job, so I am doing this slowly but surely.

Great ideas here... Don't have much fabric to organize so it might be easier to start a similar system while it would be easier to put in place rather than waiting to organize a larger stash down the road. This has been a great post to follow, thanks Zozee
