Today in a local antique store/mall, I saw 3 FWs. One was a 222, black, priced at $1200. One was a beige priced at $695 and the third was a celery white for $895. All had cases. Not buying any but NY daughter wondered about the 222 price. I thought it reasonable but am wondering if it is priced reasonably. I know the others are exorbitant.

It's in the ballpark for a 222 here in the US. You wouldn't believe how cheap they go for in Australia.

It's probably cheaper to buy one in the UK, ship it, and get it rewired for US current.

    I mean, it's like $600 for a UK machine. $1500 is a US one.

it would be a bit cheaper.. maybe... factor in a new motor, new light and foot pedal plus the costs of rewiring and you'll save a few hundred, but it's collect-ability is non-existent afterward as it's no longer anything close to 'original'. Just my opinion, though I have thought of doing it from time to time.

Assuming that you get a proper (vintage, used) 120v motor, pedal and light, it shouldn't do anything to the value. It's not like we can track which machine shipped with which motor/features.
