Hubby and I went on a road trip thru Wisconsin last year and we drove thru Shawano County. I was blown away with all the quilts on the barns - best part of the trip.

There is a book written by a lady who traveled to several areas that have the Barn Quilts. She talked to the owners and then included the story behind putting the quilt pattern on the barn. Interesting. Can't remember her name at the moment but she talked at a Guild I attend sometimes.

I live in Milwaukee County and the barn quilts are in several counties in the state. If you google "Wisconsin Barn Quilts" you'll find info from the state department of tourism on all the quilts. I also googled "Shawano County Barn Quilts" and here is a link to the location of each barn quilt and the name of each block.

jjs: I bet we passed each other in the hallways, as I was there, too

I work in MKE. Perhaps our paths will cross in a class or something!

I was just about to say we have barn quilts in Marathon and Clark county when I saw Fairview Farm is in Clark county. There is a barn quilt maker on Hyw 29 in Marathon County, and we have been having barn quilt makers at out quilt shows the last 4 or 5 years. The do a bang-up job of selling their wares at quilt shows.
