If they are of a "specific" theme, I make one. One Christmas, one Halloween, one birthday. Otherwise a matched set.
Kids love the special pillowcases. Parents love them because they take up little space to store.

I've made a ton of pillowcases. If it is for a single person, I have made 1. If it is for a couple, I usually make 2. My husband and I each have one that doesn't match for when we take a driving trip. We take our own pillows and we use our home-made pillowcases to replace the pillows on the motel bed. We sleep better with our own pillows. My husband takes some kids fishing and last Christmas I made all 4 of them fish pillowcases. They just loved them. My husband also fishes with a friend and I made one for his buddy and he really liked it. It is a unique gift.

Yes. As a matter of fact, I am propped right now.
My pillowcases are ones I made for myself out of fleece leftovers. Since my pillows are not regulation sizes, the leftovers are just right - and warm.
And there are sooooo many things to be done with pillowcases.

I have made a few people some travel pillowcases - each with a theme, matching their interests, etc. - and I go ahead and buy one of the travel size pillows at WalMart. My little great niece and I share a birthday, so 3 years ago I made her a pink ballet shoe print pillowcase and bought her a new travel size pillow and her mother said she took it everywhere, in the car, etc. Second year, it was a "Frozen" theme pillowcase and this last year she got a pony/horse, so of course, she got a new pillowcase. My youngest daughter travels a lot and takes her travel size pillow with her so I made her a very brightly colored pillowcase, so she could see it when she was leaving a hotel room easily.
