Well, there's always one! I'd like to actually see the bottom one turned with the aqua inside for comparison. To me the aqua kinda extends the picture and looks like the "dirt" in the design. Also, it appears that it's the same as the aqua in the cloud or whatever that is. It expands the picture. Then the red would frame the entire piece and is the "eye stopper". Actually have you auditioned green and tan? The little guy is so cute, let him not be overcome by the color of the strips.

Having just 1/4 inch of red would make it pop. Quarter inch seams are really easy to keep straight. You just run the last seam against your presser foot, and they come out perfectly.

Because the black is so dominant and strong, I think the inner border being red will provide a better stop for the eye.

Always one odd man out, guess that's me this time. I prefer the red on the outside as I feel that the dark of the red closes the small blocks in and makes them "feel" darker and smaller. I like the more open feeling I have looking at the block with the blue on the inside and the darker red as the stopper on the outside.
