I'm curious to know if putting minky on a cotton quilt top will always get wavy as I am contemplating using it on a baby quilt but have not had the courage to do so yet.
I can't answer that but hopefully someone else can. I would also be interested before I use Minky again so I can avoid the problem.

Quiltybarb, thank you for the compliment. I believe that I saw the picture on Pinterest and winged it from there.

Wow! Quite an undertaking. It is beautiful and love it! I have seen other pictures of the bookcase quilt and was in "awe."
Thanks for sharing.

If anyone has an idea of how to minimize the ruffles at this point, I would greatly appreciate your advice.
I always stretch my binding as I put it on. WOF binding can be tugged on a little, as it stretches quite a lot. Length of fabric binding can be stretched a lot. It doesn't have much stretch in it.

I lay the binding on just before I will sew it, give it a tug, press down with my fingers and hold it down as it goes through the needle. That really gets rid of waves at the edges.

My patchwork "guru" is always saying measure the quilt through the centre both ways and cut the binding to that measurement, then ease in any extra when sewing it on. Stops the waving -

Congratulations and well done. On the subject of wavy edges, I always sew a 1/4 " row around my Quilt when I've finished quilting the main part of the quilt. I don't seem to have any trouble with my quilts laying flat. I was taught this by my first quilt teacher.

I am new to this blog, but really wanted to say how lovely this quilt is and I'm anxious to find out if the artist used a particular pattern. I'd love to know where to begin being a rather new quilter.

Best bookcase quilt I have ever seen! Your attention to detail makes it a treasure for sure. It will be a family heirloom they will love it.
