    Default Quilt guilds

Hi, I am retiring very soon and very happy about that. We are moving to Florida from New York. We will be in Sunrise area and I am wondering if any Florida people can recommend a guild in that area. Hoping that I will be more motivated once I retire. Thank you for any answers. Nancy

    here's a listing of FL guilds http://www.quiltguilds.com/florida.htm
Probably the closest to Sunrise is Coral Springs

Thank you for the link. I see a couple of guilds within similar distance. Once we are settled, I will try them out.

if there isn't one nearby -- why not start a group?? For several years when we went to FL for winter months there wasn't one near by. I posted on the senior bulletin board and soon there were a dozen quilters. We were very informal and worked on our own stuff or sometimes had a lesson by one of the group.

This is a good idea. I have been part of a guild for about 10 years and about two weeks ago discovered that our senior center has two quilt/craft work days every month. Not a guild but a time for creative folks to gather together. When I retire, I will check them out and make new quilty friends.

Ask about guilds at the LQS. There are guilds that don't show up in searches. I know of a couple around me that don't show up when you search.

Good luck finding a guild. Some in Fla are so large that they no longer take new members. If so, start your own.

Thank you, I don't see myself starting a new group, but I will ask at a quilt shop as well. I know that there is a nice one in Margate, "Sunshine Quilters". Looking forward to finishing some UFO's and finding time to try new ones.
I work slowly in quilting, but working 12 hour shifts doesn't leave energy for creative interests. Thank you all for answering.
