I have my Mother's 99 and I love it. It was missing the extension table but I found one on ebay and cleaned it up.
It is so peaceful and beautiful to use, stitching along gently and almost silently. Aghh bliss.
I have another 5 machines. Not Singers...but I love each for different reasons.
Is it an addiction or obsession or what?

6 is neither an addiction or obsession. This was just a travel cart to a handcrank demo. It didn't include the special HCs or treadles or the electrics.

I looked a long time for a hand crank, and finally bought a 99K with a spoked wheel on Craigslist and converted it. Got a reproduction crank from Cindy Peters, who tests them before selling and is AWESOME to deal with. I love sewing on it!

Hand crank machines are fun. I have several. Some with original hand cranks which are expensive when you can find
an original crank. If you are not a collector and don't need an original the Chinese clones will work just fine and are
much cheaper. Usually can find them on Ebay. There was even a man making hand cranks for a 221 Featherweight.
I have one. It allows you to use your 221 where you don't have power like in a cabin or camper.

I had not thought of bringing a sewing machine camping. I love that idea. Of being off grid and just being able to sew away.

I have one. I cleaned it up and got it working and then put it aside.
